An estimated 80% of home based allergic reactions are a result of the dust mite.

Most of us are familiar with someone who suffers with a respiratory problem, whether it be coughing, shortness of breath, persistent sneezing or a runny nose. **CARPET CORNER**

Hi everyone this one may not be about carpets, but it is equally important!

Do you have a tiled floor surface in your home?

If you do, here's a tip to stop a red wine and other high colour spill soaking into the tile and changing the colour of tile itself. Whether the tile is ceramic, slate or a simple Marley Tile, this tip works for all.

It is important that this cleaning solution to a red wine/high colour spill on hard flooring is done immediately.

Simply tip a good amount of diet lemonade over the spill, (If it's a full bottle then empty the full contents of the lemonade bottle). Let it fiz for a few seconds and then with a brush scrub the floor. Once scrubbed, mop up with a clean mop head the excess fluids and finally buff dry.

This should stop any staining of the affected area!

CARPET CORNER

Stain Removal:

When carpet is first manufactured a hot dye is used to create the colour of the carpet. If you can imagine a sewing needle being a single fibre of the carpet the eyelet of the needle is just like the fibres in your carpet because as hot dye is added to the carpet an eyelet at the base of the fibre is opened to allow the dye inside the fibres. Once the dye is cooled the eyelet then closes, giving it it's colour retention.

When spills are dropped onto the surface of the carpet, sometimes, if the spill is a hot drink that eyelet in the fibres thinks it's being dyed again and reopens, allowing the hot drink to get inside the fibres in the carpet. When this happens you will not be able to get the stain out, as it has changed the colour forever of the affected area!

So how can you overcome this from happening to your carpets?

The simple answer is to add a stain guard protection to the carpets either when new, or on their next clean. But do remember no protection means the costly solution of replacement, should you spill something that becomes an unmovable stain!
